An exploration of the only available flours on Amazon

If you thought quarantine was a good time to start getting into baking, you weren't alone, as Amazon is currently sold out of flour. Well, it's sold out of normie all-purpose flour, at least, but you can still get all sorts of other types of flours that no one even knew existed.

Let's review some of them.

Dark Rye Flour

I think we've all eaten rye bread before, which tastes like you're being punished for something but you like it.

Green Banana Flour

No.

Sunflower Flour

There's no way this is any good, it must have been invented for the pun alone.

Tiger Nut Flour

It has the word "nut" in it so I must simply say lol.

Coconut Flour

2544 people give it 4.5/5 stars, must be pretty good!

Pecan Flour

Hmm, well I did make a very good Bon Appetit apple upside down cake that involved grinding walnuts or pecans into a flour, so this seems legit. I will allow it.

Cricket Flour

I've heard that insects are a good, sustainable source of protein, and if there's any time to experiment with something chaotic good like eating bugs for the planet, it's now. There's only one bag left though so you better move fast.

  1. Coconut flour is used in a lot of vegan baking.

I'm not sure if that is because it binds better without eggs or because the type of people who write online vegan recipes like to maintain a certain 'image'.
